"DESIGNS THAT REFLECT OUR
AMERICAN HERITAGE"

Welcome to my blog. I'm probably very much like all of you who love the needlearts. My life revolves around family, friends, home and all things that help to make for a more contented life. When time allows; cooking, gardening, decorating, and collecting are my joys. I look forward to sharing all of these things with you. I also hope to keep you up to date on what is going on at Homespun Elegance, in regard to the needlework designs and the "Plain & Fancy Wares" that we offer.

Wishing you "Many Happy Stitches".

Are You Lucky?

Good Evening!
Are you lucky?  I don't know about you but I could
certainly could use a little luck in my life.
Years ago I did a series called 'Woolly Tyme".
It was very limited, so only a few stitchers
participated.  Well, I have decided to take these
cute designs, rework them a little, and publish
them again.
This is a little "glimpse" of
"DELIVERING LUCK"

Very springy and a quick stitch.  I think it will
be a needle case.  Hope you like it.
I'll be back mid week.  Take care until then and
stitch as much as you can.
Many Happy Stitches,
Sandra

No Real Snow!

Good Afternoon Everyone!
Well, remember  the other day when we were
expecting snow -
NOT!
I didn't even see a flake, but I'm not complaining.
This is the only snow I am liking at the present
time, the stitched kind.  The title "I Love Snow"
means I love stitched snow.
~~~~~~~~~~~
Continuing with my Heart Collection of
"ornies" and fobs to match, here is a "glimpse"
of
"FLAKY NIGHT"
 This is the print of my hand-painted
"Flaky Night" which will be decoupaged
on a wooded heart for the fob.
This is your little "glimpse".  He is coming along
nicely.  I tried to stitch him on black, but
I just couldn't do it.  If you can, it will save
you a little time.  Hope you like him.  Let
me know what you think.  Hope to release him
in about a week or so.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Wishing you a peaceful weekend with
lots of stitching time.

Winter Is Here

Hi Everyone!
I understand from the weather report that we
may get as much as 6" of snow late
tomorrow.  We are right on the line so it
could just be a really cold rain.  Keeping my
fingers crossed for the cold rain.  I would
like to have the perfect snow storm.  For me
that is 2" at the most.  Enough for
me or Lehmer to shove it out of the way.
I don't want him shoveling snow anymore.
I will be very stressed.
~~~~~~~~~~~
I wanted to share with you my gift to
myself.  I bet you will love him or her.
Isn't this one of the neatest sheep you have ever
seen?  Oh my gosh, he going to be showing
up in a lot of photo shoots.  Notice
 "I Love Winter"
hanging around his neck.  I almost felt dishonest
when I did that design, but I really do like
winter in some ways.  It is a time for me to settle down a
little.  I like the nesting thing.  I do love winter clothes.
Covers up a lot of bad things at this stage in my life.
I love savory winter foods, such as soups, breads, etc.
I catch up on all the magazines I haven't had
time to read.
The biggest thing I can mark off my list of things to
do is the yard.  What a relief
to not have to worry about bugs and weeds.
But I don't like piles of snow, icy steps, and arctic air.
Oh, boy, it is only January.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Thanks again for all of your comments about
the runner.  That was so much fun and you will
be tickled to know that I have a runner already
designed and stitched.  Just have to do a
monogram and it will be ready to go.  Plus,
I have another "vintage" one that you might like.
Have a good rest of the day.  Keep your
fingers crossed for not much snow for us.
"Many Happy Stitches",
Sandra

Need Your Opinion

Good Evening Everyone!
Hope all is well in your world.  I am busy,
busy trying to finish up publications and decide
on new ones.
I have had this wonderful runner for years.  Hollis
graphed it some time ago and I've been dragging
my feet about what to do with it.
My options are to simply picture it as is -
a runner - or adapt it into a sampler.
I'm leaning toward the sampler.
I used it on my breakfast room table for
the Christmas holidays.  It was just perfect.
Here it is.  Let me know what you think.

Have a great rest of the weekend.

New Wares

Good Evening Everyone!
Hope this finds all of you well.  Just heard
on the news that the flu is really bad in 47 states.
I hope you have all had your flu shots and
are being really careful when you are out
and about.  I know I sound paranoid but
maybe there is reason to be.
Staying inside and stitching the winter
away sounds like a good idea to me.
What do you think?

NEW WARES TO SHARE
TONIGHT
Both of these designs will be
shipped to distributors and
my "Autos" next week.

Hope you like my new things!

Think I'm Finished!

Good Evening Every One!
I have been at it for nearly two days, but I think
I am finally finished putting away the
Christmas decorations.  I dearly love it when
the house is so festive, but it is a real ordeal
to end the holidays like this.
The only thing left is the greenery outdoors.
It is still so pretty and green, so I like to
enjoy it for a few more months.  I've embellished
my side door sway with a great metal snowflake.
I still have to decorate my front door wreath.

 Side door - just cannot throw it away
when it still looks good.
 This is  my winter window in the daylight.

 Window at night.

Everything that says winter!

Hope you have had a great weekend.  I'll be heading to
Richmond in the AM to see my sweet Avery.
Can't wait!

Almost A Decision

Good Morning Everyone!
Well, I stayed up later than usual and finished
"Wondrous Love".
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Here are some of the elements of the finished
design.  Still playing around with it, but I think
I have made a decision.  If you know me very
well, you know I like simple finishes.
The sewing machine and I do not get along at all.
I wish I did like the machine because it
certainly would open up a world of
possibilities.  My "mind's eye" can see fun
things to do, but I don't know how to
make it happen.
Oh, well, I know many of you have that
talent and can make something wonderful out
of this simple, but elegant design.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Well, as I said last night, I have to put away
my Christmas decorations.  Makes my heart
sad to see them go, but the needles are dry
and dropping.  Do you like the smell of the
Christmas tree?  Even though my tree is dry,
when I turn on the lights, the little bit of warmth
from the lights make it smell so good.
 Probably a real fire hazard at this point, so
I'll have to settle for my scented candles.

Wishing you a great day with

A Little Glimpse!

Good Evening Everyone!
Well, I've been trying to work the last few days
with only a little bit of success.  Just can't get
focused for some reason.  Maybe it's because all
the Christmas decorations are still up.
I promised myself that they have to be taken
down and put away this weekend.  I 'm the
only one to blame for the massive job that it is.
Every year I say I'm going to cut back, but
it never really happens.  The only thing I
didn't do this year was put ornaments on the
kitchen tree and the glass ornaments on the
dining room tree.  I did that because I thought
Avery would be all over the trees but he
really didn't pay too much attention to
them.  Also, didn't put the vintage toy collection
under the tree in the dining room.  I do think
he would have gone after that.  Anyway,
enough complaining.  It will get done - some
how, some way.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Time moves on and rather quickly, I might
add.  I'm always too late with Valentine
designs, so I'm trying to get this done
in plenty of time.  This will be a quick stitch,
similar in style to my "Wondrous Joy"
Christmas design.  I wish I had time to stitch
this on a large count for a pillow, but
once again, time is always the issue.
I can just see it though on my sofa for
Valentine's Day.  Maybe next year.
It would also be wonderful stitched in a
warm cream on a really dark hand-dyed linen.
Where are the stitching elves when I need them.
Anyway, here is your little "glimpse".
Let me know what you think!
"Wondrous Love"
 I have been rummaging through storage again
and came across some of this fabric.
 I thought it had been discontinued, but it is still
available.   It is a
36 Count and has this wonderful woven quilt-
type design. The fabric is called
"Proud Pine".  The stitching area measures
8 3/4" X 8 3/4".  The pillow square from outside
border to outside border is approximately 13" square.
It looks a little green, but is more taupe in color.
Let me know if you are interested.
Hope you have a good night.  I'm going to stitch
on "Wondrous Love" tonight and hope to
finish it.
Many Happy Stitches,
Sandra
A Few Finishes To Share
Good Evening Everyone!
I hope all of you had a wonderful New Year's Eve
and New Year's Day.  We certainly did.  It was very
quiet and spent with family, and that is just
how I like it.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Before I get back to work tomorrow, I wanted to share
with you a few wonderful finishes I received during
the holidays.  I know you will love them.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Wondrous Joy"
stitched over one on a 28 Count fabric
and mounted in a tin frame by Twisted Threads.
It measures 1 1/2" X 3".   This was
stitched by Jean, the owner of
Attic Needlework in Mesa, Arizona.
Isn't it fabulous?
~~~~~~~~~~~
"We Will Adore Him"
stitched over one by Sue Hartman from
Towson, Maryland.
I don't know what count she used or the finished
dimensions, but it is just so sweet as an ornament.
Someone else thought so too because she won
a prize in her state fair.  Well deserved Sue!
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Have a good evening everyone and
I'll be back soon!
Many Happy Stitches,
Sandra
