"DESIGNS THAT REFLECT OUR
AMERICAN HERITAGE"

Welcome to my blog. I'm probably very much like all of you who love the needlearts. My life revolves around family, friends, home and all things that help to make for a more contented life. When time allows; cooking, gardening, decorating, and collecting are my joys. I look forward to sharing all of these things with you. I also hope to keep you up to date on what is going on at Homespun Elegance, in regard to the needlework designs and the "Plain & Fancy Wares" that we offer.

Wishing you "Many Happy Stitches".

Happy Memorial Day Weekend

Good Evening Everyone!
What a perfect little setting the above design depicts.
Wouldn't it be wonderful if everyone in our country
were experiencing something similar?  My heart goes
out to all of those whose homes and families are so
devastated.  I wish it could be a happy holiday
for them too.
Hope all is well with all of my stitching friends.
Take care and be happy,
Sandra

Your  wonderful comments about the "baby things" that I
made for Avery were so heart warming.  Thanks for
sharing my joy.  I have other things in the works, so stay tuned.
Well enough for tonight.  Need to put the finishing touches
on the above.
Many Happy Stitches,

I Have a Name!!

Good Evening Everyone!
I know you think I have closed up shoppe.  Not
completely, but close.  We have just been totally obsessed
with "baby stuff" and loving every minute of it.  Hollis had
a beautiful shower this past Saturday, hosted by some of
my wonderful and generous friends here in Fredericksburg.
It was all so sweet. I wanted to share with you some of the
things I have made for the baby.
My good friend, Ethel, gave me a set of "onesies" very
soon after I told her about the baby.  She said I was to
adorn them, so this is what I did.
I guess I have just announced his name as well.
Avery Paul
We just love it.

Also, I painted this little stool for him.  I was just
going to buy an unfinished stool from a craft store,
but Hollis and I were antiquing a few weeks ago
and found this old stool that someone had already
painted and was almost an exact match to the wall
paint.  How amazing is that!   Of course, it is a
little big for him now, but he will grow into it.

Hope you don't mind reading "baby news".  I promise
to have needlework news in a day or two.

Many Happy Stitches,

Time To Share

Good Evening Everyone!!
I just couldn't wait another minute to let you see a little
bit of Mary Lamin's Lord's Prayer Sampler.   It is not
quite finished.  Candi Smith, an absolutely fantastic
stitcher, did all of the sampler with the exception of
a few colors that I couldn't decide on when it was
time to send it her way.  I am so happy with it.  It
is so special in so many ways.
So without further delay, here is a peak.  I hope
this will be published within the month, certainly
no later than early June.  For all of you who
have been waiting for so long, I think you will agree
that it was worth the wait.

I wish I could give you a definite date, but so many
things keep getting in the way of working.  Today
I went back to Northern Virginia for another Doctor
appointment.  It really eats up the better part of a
day.  The good thing today was that Lehmer drove
me so I was able to do a little stitching in the car.
Having to go twice a week so far away is really a
hassle, but hopefully it will pay off in the end.  I
will admit that I am feeling a little better.   Yeah!!

Have a great night with "Many Happy Stitches,"

Sneak Peek

Good Evening Everyone!
My FANCY FRIDAY has become a "sneak peek
only" I'm afraid.  Today has been a crazy day.  It was
my second trip this week to northern Virginia to
see a new doctor about my neck and shoulders.
Remember the wreck on Labor Day, well I am
still dealing with the results of that.   The physical
therapy here in Fredericksburg helped to a
point, but it hasn't gotten any better.  I'm hopeful
I may have better results with this Doctor, but
I sure wish he wasn't so far away.  Not only is
it quite a trip, but today we dealt with Friday
rush hour.  A long trip indeed.  I cannot believe
that my husband, Lehmer, did that commute
for many, many years.  No wonder he retired
so early.

Anyway, here is a little design I will have for
you soon.
"Delivering Liberty"
The next two Halloween designs will be released at
the same time.  Then there will only be two more
and the "Halloween Year" collection will be
completed.  Plans are coming together for my
Christmas designs.  My list (or lists) just keep growing.

Wishing all of you wonderful Mothers a glorious
Mother's Day.  I hope you get to spend it with
the ones you love.

Sandra

Merry May

Good Afternoon Everyone!
I hope all is well with everyone during what I hope will be a
 "Merry Month Of May".
The weather has finally settled down around here for now.
We were so fortunate not to have tornadoes in Fredericksburg.
We did have tornado watches here and some warnings near here.
I cannot imagine the fear, sadness, and loss that so many have
experienced as a result of such horrible weather.  My heart
goes out to all of them.

I am sorry I have been absent for so long.  Suffice it to say
we have been really busy around here and if we haven't
been busy here, we've been busy in Richmond.
The baby's room is coming along nicely.  It is now painted the
most wonderful shade of blue/green.  Not turquoise, not aqua.
I don't know what to call it, but it is very soft and sweet.
Hollis bought the most charming old armoire and I
painted it the same color as the walls.  A sweet little corner
cabinet was painted the same color.  I cannot wait to share.
This is so much fun!!
Armoire before being painted -

This is the baby cradle that Cameron and Hollis slept
in next to my bed when they were first born.  Note
the little dowel in the upright, you pull that out and
you can rock the cradle.  We cleaned it and
took it to Richmond last weekend.  Before we knew
it, Hollis' cat, Sasha, had made it her own.  Is this
going to be a problem?  I don't know.

I need to share with you my new designs.  I am really
behind in updates.  Hopefully, everything will be shown
here and in my Etsy shoppe soon.
WEBSITE NEWS
I want to announce that my WEBSITE will not be updated
any longer.  It is having major problems, so we are
going to have to construct a new site.  The WEBSITE will
stay as is so you can refer to it for past products.  Please use
this BLOG to see all new releases.  I will also be using
FACE BOOK to let you know about new things.
Take care everyone.  I hope you are enjoying
"Many Happy Stitches",
