"DESIGNS THAT REFLECT OUR
AMERICAN HERITAGE"

Welcome to my blog. I'm probably very much like all of you who love the needlearts. My life revolves around family, friends, home and all things that help to make for a more contented life. When time allows; cooking, gardening, decorating, and collecting are my joys. I look forward to sharing all of these things with you. I also hope to keep you up to date on what is going on at Homespun Elegance, in regard to the needlework designs and the "Plain & Fancy Wares" that we offer.

Wishing you "Many Happy Stitches".

GIVE AWAY TYME!

Hi Again!
It is so hot here in Virginia, my mind starts thinking
about the cool, crisp days of Autumn.  In honor
of those cool, crisp days, I would like to do a
"GIVE AWAY"~
I will be picking two winners on Wednesday.
All you have to do is leave a comment to be
chosen.
You will be able to pick six patterns from
my HALLOWEEN COLLECTIONS I AND II.
To make your selections, just go to the column on the
left, scroll down and pick from the 20+
designs that are available from the two
collections.
Here are a few examples~
Good luck!!!
"Many Happy Stitches",
Sandra

Coming Soon!

Good Morning!
My new designs are almost ready.  Yeah!!!
So happy to have the stitching finished, now
just have to complete the finishing, graph every
thing, photograph everything, print everything.
Needless to say, I have a lot more to do, but I
am determined to ship these designs next week.
Hope you like them and more importantly,
want to add them to your stash.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
"WINE IS, COFFEE IS,
TEA IS . . ."
This is the first design in my new collection~
"A JOYFUL LIFE".
This collection is all about
those little or big things that bring us joy,
happiness, etc.  Sometimes funny,
sometimes heartfelt, sometimes just a saying that
I relate too and hope you do too.
 I stitched these on 30 Count "Creek Bed Brown" from
R and Reproductions.  Fibers used were
Gentle Art's "Brethren Blue" & "Maple Syrup",
Weeks Dye Works' Swamp Water", and
Classic Color Works' "Old Brick".
The frame is a new grained design called
"Thumb Print Wave".  I hand paint and grain
 each of these frames as they are ordered.
~~~Next~~~
Continuing with my
"Halloween Year II" Collection
I give you
"DOUBLE TROUBLE"
This little "cutie" is stitched on 30 Count
"Straw" hand-dyed linen from
Weeks Dye Works.  It is embellished with
my "Tiny Brass Star" charms and trimmed
with Dames Of The Needle's adorable
"Fra Orange" Pom Pom fringe.
Two more designs to go and the collection
will be complete.  Yeah!!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hope to be back later today with a fun
Give Away for my stitching friends,
"Many Happy Stitches",
Virginia Beach, Virginia; or are lucky
enough to be spending some
summer fun time there, please
This is what my friends, Ann and Pat,
had to say on their BLOG
about my visit.  So sweet of them~
We are excited to announce a special day with Sandra Sullivan
of Homespun Elegance on July 12th. Come meet Sandra and see
her incredible models,antique needlework tools and samplers.
We have been hoping to host Sandra for a long time so we are
especially excited that she's finally coming. Hope you will join us for a
The "Ann Simms" sampler above and the
reproduction will be there along with
many others.
I am so looking forward to this fun time with
cross stitch friends from near and far.
********************
That should be enough fun for one weekend, but
then I will be teaching, yes, can you believe that, at the
TIDEWATER SAMPLER GUILD'S
meeting on July 13th.
Actually, I should clarify that the stitching will
be done ahead of time and I will be
teaching the finishing part of the project.
Well, it is back to finishing some models.  I
had hoped to share some more little
"glimpses" tonight, but as usual I think
I can get more done than I do.
Father's Day
Good Morning Everyone!
I'm so sorry I didn't get to post anything
yesterday.  We had such a wonderful
Father's Day weekend.  Hollis and Avery
were here for the weekend and Cameron
got here Sunday.  It was a beautiful
day~the weather could not be more
perfect.  We got to eat outdoors, Avery
got to play outdoors, and we got to just
enjoy each other.
Just had to share this picture of
Avery and his Papa.  These two
were just inseparable all weekend.  I
wish I had taken more pictures.  Need
to get back in the picture taking mode.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Here are the pictures that Hollis and
Cameron posted of their Dad.  Love
both of them.
What a wonderful picture.  Proud Dad~
A great picture~having fun together.
~~~~~~~~~~~
It's fun to see what the kids choose to post.
Great memories with their Dad.
Blessings,
Sandra
Another Avery Post!
Good Early Afternoon!
I hope you aren't getting really sick of Grammie
pictures!!!  For those of you that
 do enjoy them, I strike again.
This is just hysterical.  We have all been
trying to do the "potty training" thing with
Avery.  Few steps forward-more than a
few backward.
~~~FRUSTRATING~~~
to say the least!
Hollis caught Avery sitting in the bed
with her potty training reference book.
Look at his eyes.  He looks like he has
seen something scary.
I love this picture-definitely a keeper !
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Just had to share.  Now you can get back
to your stitching~
A Little Glimpse!
Good Evening Everyone!
Just had to share another little "glimpse"
of my next design.  Not showing
everything just yet.  There will be a
third design that involves "tea".
Tried to cover all of my beverage
choices and yours, I hope.
This new
 collection is aptly named
"A Joyful Life",
which will cover
a host of things.  Little sayings that
have a special meaning or just
something to make you smile.
So here are "glimpses" of two
of the designs.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~
All of these designs will use sampler motifs,
borders, etc, so even though they may be
funny, cute, sentimental etc., they will
incorporate my favorite design elements.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
So hope you like my new collection.

This Should Make You Smile!

Good Evening Everyone!
I haven't posted anything about my favorite
subject, Avery, for a while now.  Long
overdue.  He is at such a cute age, talking
constantly and just full of himself.
He is a bossy little thing, but he gets away
with it because of his personality.
Just to show you what a "ham"
he is~
Here he is in his snow boots and pullups
on the front porch, of all places.
No shame!
I was going to share some other pictures
that Hollis forwarded me from her cell
phone but Blogger won't load them.
I hate computers.
If I can get it to work, I'll do
another post.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Have had quite a day.  Worked in the
yard again for hours.  I spent way too much
time out there.  Wanted to do some more
designing today, but that will have to
wait too.  Way to tired to tackle the
computer.
Be back soon!
Many Happy Stitches,
Sandra
Something For You!
Good Afternoon Everyone!
Are you having a happy summer day?
It is beautiful here in Virginia and
should be for the weekend.  I hope to
get out in the yard again on
Saturday before the awful humidity
returns and chases me indoors.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Since so many of us seem to be into
sunflowers and crows right now,
I have decided to show you another
design.  This is from my
Purely Samplers Collection
"ONE FOR THE CROW"
It was stitched on
"Unbleached" linen using
DMC floss.
If you want to stitch on an over-dyed linen,
 I think a good substitute would be
"Creek Bed Brown" from
R and R Reproductions.
$9.00 Retail + $1.75 S/H
~~~~~~~~~~~~
SOLD
And for you~
"CROW PATRIOTIC"
decoupaged box.
I only have one.
the box is decoupaged with a print of one of my
paintings.  The boxes are then glazed for that
"prim" look.  They measure 4" square and 2"
deep.  Just in time for your July 4th decorating
($15.00 ~ this includes shipping)
I take Paypal, Visa, Mastercard, and checks.
Wishing you
"Many Happy Summer Stitches",
Sandra
Something For You
Good Morning Everyone!
I've had some inquiries about the battery
operated candle that is tucked inside of
of "Hanging Pouches".  These will be
available very soon on my Blog.  They are
on the way to me now.
I love these little candles~have a bunch
of them.  Here is one hanging from
my TV cabinet door.
 and tucked in my
"Sunflower Fair" hanging pouch.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
These sweet candles are battery operated.
They have a timer and I have mine set to
come on around 6:00 pm.
They are $8.50 which includes the
shipping.  If you want more than one
I will adjust shipping.
I take Paypal, Visa, Mastercard,
and checks.

Something New!

Good Evening Everyone!
Hope all is well with everyone.  I am having a
good night because I think I can finish my two
new designs and finish printing in the morning.
If this happens, I will be shipping to my AUTOS
and Distributors tomorrow.  Oh happy day!!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~
I made both of these designs into
~hanging pouches~
and filled them with fun things.
The finishing is so easy, everything was
done by hand.
Here is
"PEACE TO EWE"
 and
"SUNFLOWER FAIR"
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Both of them are stitched on 20 Count "Kudzu",
by Weeks Dye Works, using a variety of
fibers.  The buttons you see are just ones
that I had in my stash.  You should be able
to find something similar at your local
craft or sewing shoppe.
Both retail for $6.50.  If you are unable to
find them at your favorite shoppe,
they will be in my ETSY shoppe soon.
Just call or email me if you have any questions.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Back to work for me.
Wish I could do some stitching, but I
must stay focased and finish these.
"Many Happy Stitches" to you,
Sandra
