"DESIGNS THAT REFLECT OUR
AMERICAN HERITAGE"

Welcome to my blog. I'm probably very much like all of you who love the needlearts. My life revolves around family, friends, home and all things that help to make for a more contented life. When time allows; cooking, gardening, decorating, and collecting are my joys. I look forward to sharing all of these things with you. I also hope to keep you up to date on what is going on at Homespun Elegance, in regard to the needlework designs and the "Plain & Fancy Wares" that we offer.

Wishing you "Many Happy Stitches".

Avery's Curls

Good Evening Everyone!
Hope this finds everyone OK.  We have been blessed
with a beautiful Spring in Virginia, but it looks like
we might have a tropical storm heading our way
in a few days.  No complaints here though.  We have
been so lucky when so much of the country has had
such a horrible time.  Don't you wish there was
something that could be done to stop all the
horrible things happening in our country?
~~~~~~~~~~~~
When things are so gloomy, I consider myself
lucky that I can look at our little grandson, Avery, and
feel so blessed to have this little guy to cheer us up.
He is so adorable and so much fun.
I know all of you who follow the Blog have seen
his wonderful curls.  Well, Hollis and Paul decided
that his hair needed to be cut.  I can't tell you how
many times people said something about him
being a little girl, even though he was dressed
as a boy.  I think that was the deciding factor.
It broke my heart, but I knew it was coming.
Let me show you some before and after
pictures.  Hollis was afraid his hair
would be straight when it was cut, but that
didn't happen.
BEFORE
It was below his shoulders!
 AFTER
Now, it's above his collar.
He really looks like a little boy now!
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Thanks for indulging a proud
"Grammie",
Sandra

A Little Glimpse

Good Evening Everyone!
Well, it is the end of another weekend.  I always
 think I am going to get so much done and usually
I am very disappointed.  Well, I am proud to
say that Lehmer and I got a lot on our list
accomplished.  As I have talked about before,
we have been paying rent on a storage unit
for four years.  It is full of stuff left from the
shoppe.  Well, we made a dent in it.  Moved
quite a lot of stuff home to the upstairs of our
garage.  Still have to get rid of what we moved
but at least it is home and not there.  Still have
 a ways to go.  Lots of antique and vintage
props and furniture that I guess we will be
putting on Craig's List.  Wish all of you lived
closer, I would certainly have a Homespun
Elegance Yard Sale.  That would be so
much fun.
Found lots of boxes filled with more frames,
fabric, fibers, etc.  Hope to get all of that
on the blog or Etsy in the near future.
Also, got out and picked up some flowers
for my garden.  Still have to get everything
planted, but that will wait until next week.
~~~~~~~~~~~
This is what I have to share with you ~
"Americans Care About Each Other" ~
my newest design.
I had showed you a few other designs, but I think
I want to get this one finished in time for July 4th.
Just seems more appropriate and I think it is so
true of Americans.  We do care about each.
Hope you like this "little glimpse".
~~~~~~~~~~~~
I'll be leaving in the morning to take care of Avery
Monday and Tuesday.  Hope to have more to
share when I return and more to offer you from
the storage unit.
Thank you so much for all of your orders this
past week.
Many Happy Stitches,
Sandra

Terrific Frame Sale

Hi Everyone!
Months and months ago I talked about wanting to
do a huge sale on limited stock and frames that
I do not sell anymore.  These frames have been
residing in a storage unit that I have been renting
now for four years.  It is time to stop paying
rent on all of this stuff.  The first step was a
huge sale on DMC cones.  These cones retail
for $19.95 and I'm selling them for $7.00.
~450 yards~
They are listed in my ETSY shoppe
I still have lots of cones.  They are great for
dyeing your own floss, punch needle, and
of course lots of stitching.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Frames are listed as collections.  These
are all less than wholesale.  The price is
listed under get collection.  Of course, there
will be shipping.  I cannot ship these
frames outside of the states.  I'm sorry
about that.
are so many to go through, but I thought I would
start with this group to see if there is any interest.
Something For Someone!
Good Afternoon Everyone!
If you read my last blog post you know I went to
Luckett, VA on Saturday to their wonderful Spring Show.
I didn't buy much, but did pick up a few things
that I thought someone would love.
I love this and, of course, considered keeping it
myself, but if you could see my house you
would know that I do not need anything else.
This was labeled as a child's tin lunch pail, but
I immediately thought, what a neat stitching
pail.  It is adorable!  Note the the heart shaped
part of the handle on the side and the neat lid handle.
We just don't see things like this anymore.
It is worn and loved.  I would suggest cleaning
it and putting a nice coat of wax inside and
out.  If you only want to display it, I wouldn't
do anything to it.
It would also make a wonderful flower
container.  I love using things for flower
arrangements that would never have been
used that way before.
Anyway, here are a few views.
Measurements ~
7 3/4" wide X 4" deep X 4 1/4" high X
6 3/4" high including the carrying handle.
SOLD ~ THANK YOU
CHERYL!
Asking $30.00 + shipping!
I take Paypal, Visa, Mastercard, and checks.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hope someone loves it.

A Little Glimpse

Good Evening Everyone!
Hope you've had a great weekend.  It has been really
busy around here.  Hollis and I got to go do some long
over due antiquing on Saturday.  We made the trek
to Luckett, Virginia for a huge Spring show.  The
weather was threatening the whole day.  It rained
the whole way there, so much so that we thought
about turning around and going home, but we
stuck it out and it stopped raining.  It was amazing.
When we left in the late afternoon, it started
raining again.  We were so lucky.  Another first
was that Lehmer-Papa, and Paul-Dada baby sat
for Avery so we could go.  They survived without
a scratch, so I hope this won't be our last day out.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Before I head back to Richmond in the morning
to take care of Avery, I wanted to share a
"little glimpse" of some new designs coming
your way soon.  Hope you like them!
Please let me know what you think~
I'll be back in a few days.  Take care.
"Many Happy Stitches",
Sandra
Something New!
Good Evening!
We had a beautiful day here in Virginia, a little
on the warm side though.  It has been a really
strange Spring for Virginia.  Usually it is really
hot by now, but we have had mostly cool days
and a lot of rain.  I'm not complaining about
the rain.  Last year was really dry.  Lehmer has
been cutting the grass every few days.  He hasn't
started fussing yet, but it won't be long now.
I need to find the time to get my flowers and
then get them in pots and in the ground.  Where
does the time go.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
~On to my news ~
I hope you like Sewing Birds.
I've always loved them and was lucky to find
a few to add to my collection many years
ago.  Now they are so pricey.  In fact, any
stitching tool is over the top expensive,
unless you just get lucky.  Well, I have one for
you that you don't have to pay a fortune
for, plus you get the fun of stitching it.
 ~SEWING BIRD~

You get two designs, plus the small design is shown
stitched over one for a wonderful ornament,
scissor fob, or even a pendant to wear.
I did the original design years ago, but it is
timeless and I still love it.  I did bunches of
3/4 stitches in the original (which is pictured),
but I will regraph it without those annoying
3/4 stitches.  There may be a few if necessary,
but I hope not.
Anyway, let me know what you think.

Many Happy Stitches,
Sandra

New Stuff!

Good Afternoon!
Hope all is well with all of you.  Faye and I have
had a really busy day trying to get these two new books
out to our Distributors and we made it.  Yeah!!
Now let me tell you about them.  The first is, of course,
"Peacock Manor"
Sampler Runner.
I hope you love it as much as I do.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If you have been following Homespun Elegance
for years, then you know I have a collection
of Annual Christmas Ornaments, including
Santas, Samplers, and Snowmen.  Well, I have
decided to retire some of these as individual
designs and put them in collections.  The
first one will be of the Santas ~ from
1995 ~ 2002.  You will get eight Santa designs
in this first collection.
"Annual Santa Ornaments"
1995~2002
I hope you will think this is a good idea.  A great
value for $12.00.  These are normally $8.50 each.
The only difference is you will not receive
the embellishment as in the single design, but
they are available Open Stock.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
I have many new things to show you in the
days to come.  So, I'll be back soon.
"Many Happy Stitches",
Sandra
