"DESIGNS THAT REFLECT OUR
AMERICAN HERITAGE"

Welcome to my blog. I'm probably very much like all of you who love the needlearts. My life revolves around family, friends, home and all things that help to make for a more contented life. When time allows; cooking, gardening, decorating, and collecting are my joys. I look forward to sharing all of these things with you. I also hope to keep you up to date on what is going on at Homespun Elegance, in regard to the needlework designs and the "Plain & Fancy Wares" that we offer.

Wishing you "Many Happy Stitches".

Let Him Wear Cake!

Hi Everyone!
August 2, 2011 was one of the most special days
in our lives and Saturday we celebrated that wonderful
day with a birthday party for Avery.
  Hollis spent hours planning for his first birthday and she
and Paul hosted a fabulous party.  He was the perfect little one
(of course).  Never shed a tear the entire time.  I thought
he might be a little intimidated by all of the people and other
children, but he wasn't.  I have hundreds of pictures, but
I'm going to restrain myself and just share a few.
Thank you everyone for allowing me to share our
precious grandson with you this past year.  Sometimes
Grandmothers get a little obnoxious, and I am certainly
guilty of that.  Just cannot help myself!
Let him wear cake!
Had to bathe away the cake!
 ~~~Happy family~~~
 ~~~Proud grandparents~~~
~~~Proud daddy's masterpiece "owl" cake~~~
 ~~~What was left after Avery attacked it~~~
 Rice crispy treat owls that
Hollis and I did. They were a hit.
YUMMY!
This was her design.  So cute.  The nose and feet were
made out of the old fashion peanut candies that we
flattened with a rolling pin and cut into triangles.
This was just a fluke.  I couldn't find candy corn to
use and was desperate, when I came upon these
at the drug store.  So much better than candy corn
would have been.  These were iced with chocolate
frosting and the wings were royal icing.
When he got his first glimpse of a bunch of people.
Look at me with my sweet bib.  Grammie made this
for his first birthday.  Needless to say we changed it
when it was cake time.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
A wonderful time was had by all.  A special celebration
for a the sweetest little boy ever.
Proud Grammie here,
Sandra
