"DESIGNS THAT REFLECT OUR
AMERICAN HERITAGE"

Welcome to my blog. I'm probably very much like all of you who love the needlearts. My life revolves around family, friends, home and all things that help to make for a more contented life. When time allows; cooking, gardening, decorating, and collecting are my joys. I look forward to sharing all of these things with you. I also hope to keep you up to date on what is going on at Homespun Elegance, in regard to the needlework designs and the "Plain & Fancy Wares" that we offer.

Wishing you "Many Happy Stitches".

Shipping Soon!!

Three visits in one weekend.  That is surely a record.
I started to wait until I get back on Wednesday, but
wanted to show you this before then.
"ACORN LOVER"
is ready and will be shipped next week.
This is the second in my seasonal
Bird Stitching Necessaires.  I know this is
a little out of season but it couldn't be
helped.  I happen to love stitching all
the seasons any old time, so I hope you do too.
Note that there is a little felted wool scissor fob
included.  So easy to do, you can stitch it up
in no time.

The acorn top is done with tall skinny cross stitches.
How easy is that.  I started to do Colonial Knots,
which would be wonderful, but this is cute
and a little different.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hope you like it.  Let me know what you think!
Be back Wednesday.  Promise not
to bother you again tonight.
Many Happy Stitches,
Sandra
Some Goodies!
Good Sunday Afternoon!
First of all I want to thank you for your orders a
few days ago.  I have a few more fun "goodes"
to offer you today.  Once again I wanted to
offer these things to you before they go to
my ETSY shoppe.
"BUNNY PIN BOX"
This is a darling little Spring goodie, or if
you are like me, you like bunnies all year.
I have painted and glazed the paper mache
box.  The inside is nicely glazed and the
underside of the lid is lined with linen.
You will also receive a wooden faux finished
egg nested in paper grass.
$20.00 (shipping included)
SOLD ~ THANK YOU!
~~~~~~~~~~~~
"VERY PRIMITIVE
PIN POKE"
This is one of my pre-finished Pin Pokes that I have
distressed heavily.  It is stuffed with a combination
of walnut shells and sawdust.  Great for your
needles.  It is embellished with one of my
Amber Pearl buttons.  Unfortunately, the vintage
needles are not included.   It is made out of a
wonderful "olde" looking tiny check.  I think you
will love it.

 Needles, scissors, and thread spools are not included.
~~~~~~~~~~~
Hope you see something you like.  I take Paypal.
Happy Spring!
Good Evening Everybody!
What a  wonderful "spring-like" day it has been.
Lehmer and I actually got out in the yard.  I supervised
and he did a major pruning on our dozens of
boxwoods.  If you have seen pictures of our yard,
you know they are massive.  After 30+ years of
growing, it is a never ending process.  Every few
years they have to get a major hair cut to whip
them back in shape.
He has some more to do tomorrow, but we
definitely put a dent in it today.  Next on the list
is digging up ugly, overgrown azaleas.  I'm going
to let them bloom and then bye-bye.
I'm also killing my front flower bed.  The
perennials and seeding plants have just taken
over, to the point that it just look like a tall
field of stuff last year.  I can't stand it anymore.
Sometime it is just good to start over.  This
time I'm going to do a large mulched area
with specimen plants.  I'll have to share my
progress as it happens.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Also, I've done a little Spring decorating.  I
won't do a lot for Easter, since no one is
coming home.  We will be going to Richmond
and having brunch where Paul is Head Chef.
Unfortunately, he never gets to share holiday
meals with us because he is feeding hundreds
of people in Richmond.  So sad!
Here is my kitchen window all decked out
with my "vintage" Easter rabbits.

The eggs in the white bowl are ones that I dyed
with onion skins years ago.  I store them in egg
cartons and they have survived all this time.
Just love them!
Do you remember these guys.  They are back in print.
I was so tickled to see Mr. Hare shown here.
I hope Samplers and Santas doesn't mind me linking
to her Blog.  Love her blog by the way.
 Look closely at the wonderful "vintage" hand painted
egg.  A lot of the paint has come off but it is still
wonderful.

~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hope all of you are fine.  I have had a good and
productive day.  Now I am heading to my chair with
my heating pad and my stitching.
Hope to be back tomorrow.
Many Happy Stitches,
Sandra
Some Goodies!
Hi Everyone!
I have a few "goodies" to offer you tonight.
Thought I would give you a shot at them before
I put them on ETSY.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Compote With Eggs
This is a wooden compote that I put together with
wood pieces, painted, embellished with hand-painted
chubby sheep, and finally glazed for that perfect "olde"
look.  It is filled with grass and faux eggs (size of eggs
may vary from the picture).  A perfect little touch for
spring and summer.  The compote is 6" wide and 3 1/2"
tall.  Wouldn't it be cute filled with jelly beans for Easter
and a chunky candle for the rest of the time.
I think you will love it.
~~ $22.00 (this includes the shipping) ~~

SOLD ~ THANK YOU!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Nubby Candle in Rusty Tin Holder
Everyone needs one of these.  A rusty tin candle holder
with a battery operated nubby candle holder.  It
includes the paper grass and faux eggs, but not the
batteries.  I'm sure this will add to your Easter decorations.
After Easter it will still have many uses.  I keep one in
my bathroom window as a night light.
~~ 21.00 (includes the shipping) ~~
The candle holder measures 7" long including the
handles and 3 1/4" wide.  The candle is 7" tall.
(Please note that the eggs may vary from the
picture.)
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hope you find something you like.  Hope to be
back tomorrow.  Have a wonderful night with
Many Happy Stitches,
Sandra

A Little Glimpse

Good Evening Everyone!
In the last post I said would have something
new to show you that will be going out on the
next Auto.
Well, here is a little "glimpse" of
"ACORN LOVER".
This will be the second in my seasonal series of
Bird Pin keeps.  It will include
sweet little scissor fob, as well.
It is based once again on one of my little
paintings.
This will be available in an adorable paper mache
decoupaged sewing box.  Not quite
finished with that yet.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Must go.  Really tired tonight for some reason.
I have so many new things to show you that
we are working on, but that will have to wait
for another day.
Quick Hello!
Good Evening Everyone!
Hope all of you had a great weekend.  We surely
did.  Avery and Hollis were here for the whole
weekend and we had such a wonderful time.
Lehmer doesn't get to spend as much time with
him as I do, but he certainly made up for it.
He was even sweet enough to let Hollis and I
go shopping (antiquing included) while Avery
was napping.  He now takes only one nap a day,
so it is usually a good long one.  Yippee!!
It gives everyone a little rest, because this little
guy is constantly on the go.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
This is going to be a crazy week.  We are suppose
to get our first real snow storm this week.  If
it happens I will have to stay in Richmond for
one to two extra days.  I was hoping to get
out an Auto, but it probably will not happen.
The Auto, when it goes, will include
"THE WAY TO A FRIEND'S HOUSE"
plus a little surprise that I will show you
when I get back.
The design above was shown exclusively in Norden
Distributors booth at the Nashville Trade Show.  It was
theirs just for the show and then I could ship it.  My
little way to be at the show.  I missed being there
so much.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Please keep your fingers crossed that we don't
get the snow.  I really do not want to see any of
that white stuff.
Many Happy Stitches,
Sandra
A Fashion Statement
Good Evening Everyone!
Just had to share a little joy tonight.
Hollis always dresses Avery in the cutest
outfits and I have been known to buy one or
two pieces of clothing for him.  HA HA!
It's more like I have bought more clothes
for him than I have for me and Lehmer
combined.  Much more fun ~ to say the least.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Here he is making a
"FASHION STATEMENT"
 Avery in animal print pants, yellow and green hoodie,
owl hat, suede boots, and sitting in his madras chair.  If he
wasn't so cute, it would make your eyes hurt.
 He loves to pose for pictures.  Of course he has
had a camera in his face about a million times.
 Taking a hug break!  Still loves to be held and gives
great hugs.
So adorable!
 Loves his Dad's hat.
 Posing again!
Enough pictures Grammie!  Giving me
the evil eye.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hope you didn't mind me being an
obnoxious "Grammie" again.  You can go
back to your stitching now.
Sandra
A Little Glimpse!
Good Morning!
Well, Halloween is coming whether we like it
or not, so here is a "little glimpse"
of
A Halloween Year - February
"Viney Pumpkin" -
~~~~~~~~~~~~
This and a few other designs will be shown
in Nashville, so hopefully your favorite
shoppe owners will be ordering it there,
or they can pre-order from me now.

Many Happy Stitches,
Sandra

Clearing Up Something!

Hi Everyone!
I guess I stirred up a hornet's nest with one of
my Blog and Facebook posts.  I put this picture
up for Valentine's Day and a bunch of you thought
it was a new design coming.
The truth is, it is a small design that came
along with this ~

~~ Sorry for the blurry picture. ~~
This is another one of my favorite designs.  Quaker
inspired for all the seasons.  I stitched it on 30 Count
"Straw", using "Rusty Amber" Silk 'N Colors.  If you
love rich colors, you will love this too.  Anyway, this
design is still available.  It is $10.50 which includes
the shipping.  I will be adding this to my ETSY
site soon.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hope this clears up any questions.  So happy
so many of you like it.
Many Happy Stitches,
Sandra
Almost Ready!
Hi Everyone!
So many of you have asked repeatedly when
"Scenes of Spring" was coming, well, I can
finally say it is just about ready.  Today I
got it framed, the directions written, and
the graph finalized, so it is well on its way.
Here it is ~~
Here are the other Scenes, in case you have
never seen them.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Scenes Of Winter
Scenes of Summer
Scenes of Autumn
~~~~~~~~~~~~
They are all stitched on the same fabric, even
though you would never know it from the
pictures.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Unfortunately, I have to finish another design
before Scenes of Spring will
be released.  I always release at least two
designs at a time.  Just a little longer.
Be back soon!
Many Happy Stitches,
Sandra

First of all I wanted to thank everyone here and on
Facebook for all of your wonderful comments and likes
for my new things.  Everything will be shipped
tomorrow to Autos and Distributors.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
So many of you have asked about the final design
in the SCENES OF . . . . . . series.
Well, here is a little glimpse.  It is 90% finished
and will be the next thing to go out on AUTO
All Finished!
Good Morning!
Just wanted to share the finished front cover
pictures of
"Shamrock Bunny".
In addition to the needle case I made a little
Something New!
Good Afternoon!
I'm trying really hard to get some new things ready for
the upcoming Nashville Needlework Trade Show.
Can't show you everything because it may not happen,
but this one is a go.  Still don't know how I am going
to finish it.  Do you have any ideas?  If so, please
pass them on.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
"The Way To A Friends' House. . ."
This design has been out of print.  I've always loved
it because I believe this sentiment is so true.
I've had it restitched in new colors and think
it is wonderful.  So soft and pretty.
Please let me know what you think.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I hope all of you in the North East are safe.  The conditions
look absolutely horrible.  We are so fortunate to have
avoided this storm.  Please take care of yourself.
Many Happy Stitches,
Sandra
A Celebration
Hi There!
Some of you may have wondered why I haven't
posted anything since January 20th.  Well, between
family illnesses, weather, getting ready for a surprise
birthday party for our son Cameron's 40th
birthday, I simply ran out of time and
energy.
Cameron's party was Saturday night and we
actually pulled it off.  It was a total surprise.
It was Hollis' idea for this party and I'm so
glad she wanted to do this.  It was a really
fun night - a great celebration
for a great son and brother.
 Cameron & Hollis
They look so happy.  She was so thrilled that we
surprised him.
Some decorations
We strung dozens of pictures.  There were many
more in the kitchen.
Avery enjoyed the party too, but he enjoys
everything.
~~~~~~~~~~~
I hope to be back a little later today with
some new stuff.
Many Happy Stitches,
Sandra
