"DESIGNS THAT REFLECT OUR
AMERICAN HERITAGE"

Welcome to my blog. I'm probably very much like all of you who love the needlearts. My life revolves around family, friends, home and all things that help to make for a more contented life. When time allows; cooking, gardening, decorating, and collecting are my joys. I look forward to sharing all of these things with you. I also hope to keep you up to date on what is going on at Homespun Elegance, in regard to the needlework designs and the "Plain & Fancy Wares" that we offer.

Wishing you "Many Happy Stitches".

FANCY FRIDAY

Good Afternoon Every!
I cannot believe it is already the afternoon.  Today
is suppose to be a designing day for me.  I have
all of these drawings to convert to graphs and
the day is slipping away from me.  I am really in
panic mode.  The list is growing of things to do
and the days are slipping away before the baby
is here.  I know me, once he is here, work is
going to be very hard.  I need to get FOCUSED ~~
Before I head to the basement and the computer,
here is my offering for "Fancy Friday".
XXXXXXXXXX
"SUMMER TREATS APPLIQUE"
I made this pillow a while ago.  It is based on the
cross stitch version, which is available as a pattern.
One day I might get around to publishing it as an
applique pattern, but for now I want to offer it
for sale.  It is made out out Weeks Dye Works'
hand-dyed felted wool.  The back is out of the
same wool.  It is embellished with several of my
Olde Brass "Butterfly" buttons and my"Tiny Black"
buttons.  Colonial Knots were used for the crows'
eyes and the watermelon seeds.  The pillow measures
10" X 8 1/2".
$40.00 plus $5.00 shipping.
If you are interested, just email me.  I take Paypal,
Visa, MC, money orders, and personal checks.
Have a great weekend everyone.  I'm heading to
the computer now.  Wish me luck!

Fancy Friday At Last

It's A "Fancy Friday" At Last!!
I should have never started my "Fancy Friday" idea.  I
was so excited about doing it and then becoming a
Grandmother took over.  I'm so sorry for not doing
this as often as I wanted.  Anyway, it will definitely
now be an occasional thing, but hopefully, it will be
worth waiting for.  There are so many things to
offer you.  My little "doll shed" is full of things
left from my shoppe days, as well as a storage
unit (which I really need to stop renting), and the
upstairs of my garage and my basement.  Can you
believe this?  I really need to have a massive
Homespun Elegance Yard Sale.  It is in my
plan for maybe next Spring.  I hope some
of you live close enough to come.  In the mean
time I will muddle through offering a few things
on Fridays and on Etsy.
XXXXXXXXXX
~~This is my Hanging Stitching Caddy~~

Made from an unfinished piece that I grain painted.
It measures 13 1/2" high, 5 5/8" wide, and 1 1/4" deep.
Perfect to hang next to your stitching chair, or just
anyplace that you would like to display some
favorite stitching stuff.  The pincushion is made from
a "vintage" coverlet.  I poured the little waxer from
bees' wax.
Linen, floss, and scissors are not included.
~~$48.00 which includes the shipping.~~
If you would like my Stitching Caddy, I take Paypal
(need your complete email address), Visa, Mastercard,
and personal checks.  Just email me and I will get
back to you.
Many Happy Stitches,
Sandra

Fancy Friday

Good Morning Everyone!
I want to share with you something from my garden.
I hesitate to call it a garden because of the sad shape
it is in right now.  I hope to remedy that soon.
Lenten Roses and Virginia Bluebells -
aren't they beautiful?  Note the leaves that are
still in the bed.  I must do some serious
gardening soon.  One flower bed has been done
and there are many more.
XXXXXXXXXX
On to Fancy Friday.  I have three things to offer
you since the last two Fancy Fridays
didn't happen.
Woolly Hanging Pinkeep with beeswax sheep.
"Woolly" is approximately 6" X 3 1/4".  He is all
handmade.  The body is distressed Warm and Natural and the
blanket is made from an olde coverlet.  Mine is hanging from
my pie safe and he is so cute.
He is $16.00 + $2.00 shipping.  I have a few of these made.
When I have the time I enjoy painting, especially miniatures.
This is a painting, not a print.  It has a special finish, so
it does not have glass.  The frame is a beautiful miniature
by Olde Colonial Designs, which I have distressed a little.
It measures 2 1/2" X 2 1/2".
 $29.00 + $2.00 shipping.

Painted paper mache tissue box cover.
This was painted by me and distressed.  You
are probably sick of my sheep, but I just
love painting and stitching them.
$16.00 + $3.00 shipping.
XXXXXXXXXX
Hope you have enjoyed Fancy Friday and
find something that you like.  If you would like
any of these things, please email me.  It is first
come-first serve.  I take Paypal, Visa, MC,
and personal checks.
I wish you and your family a wonderful
Easter.
Many Happy Stitches,
Sandra

NO FANCY FRIDAY

Good Evening Everyone!
I'm sorry to say there will be no "Fancy Friday"
this week.  Lehmer and I will be leaving early
tomorrow morning for Richmond.  Hollis and
Paul will be closing on their new home in the
morning, so we will start the moving process
tomorrow.  The big move with all of their
help and big truck will be on Saturday.  We
are so happy for them.  A new house and a
new baby all in one year.  I just hope our old
bones and muscles (meaning Lehmer and I) can
make it through another move.  I am mostly in
charge of the new kitchen, - cleaning, shelf paper,
putting away, etc.  Not too labor intensive so I
think I will be OK.
XXXXXXXXXXXX
So this won't be such a boring post, I am going
to give you a little "sneak peak" of something
that will be on the Online Needlework Show.
Bird 'N Blossoms Pin Cushion
Bird Pin Cushion Box
Both of these will be available on the Online Show.
I hope you will all go visit.  There are many designers
and other companies with "wares" for the needle arts.
I do not think you will be disappointed.
I hope you have a weekend filled with "Many Happy
Stitches".  Mine won't be, but that is OK.
Moving is always exciting.

FANCY FRIDAY

Happy April Everyone!!
I cannot believe it has been a whole week since my last post.
We have been so busy around here.  Our big project right now
is getting some new things ready for the Online Show which
starts April 14th.  It is fast approaching and we are not
ready - as usual.  I had to finish my next two designs in the
"Halloween Year" series and get them off to my wonderful
stitchers.  Such is the life of a cross stitch designer.
XXXXXXXXXX
I mentioned a while ago that I wanted to do something
special when I reached 300 followers.  It happened a
while ago, but I have not forgotten.
When I was in Nashville, I picked up some special scissors
to attach to my scissor fobs.  So I am offering you your
choice of a scissor style and a scissor fob for
$17.00 + $2.00 Shipping.
I have a few pairs of scissors in each style.  Just tell me
the style you like and which fob.  This is a one time
offer for my Followers.
When referencing the scissors, the top pair are black
Seaton, next is black Primitive Storklette,
next is gold-plated Seaton, and the last one is black
Fleurdelis. The fob at the top is The Stitching Lady
and the other one is The Shepherdess.  I make the fobs.
The prints are decoupaged on wood.
  XXXXXXXXXX
Now it's time for FANCY FRIDAY!
This is a piece of "vintage" embroidery that I have
mounted in one of my frames.  I took a flat wooden
frame to which I attached a piece of scalloped trim.
I think it is very "vintage" looking as well.
Closeup of distressing on the frame.  The frame is painted
with a nice umber color, distressed, and then glazed.
Closeup of the embroidery.  It is in perfect condition,
but of course I had to add a little distressing to it.
The frame measures 12 1/2" wide X 7 1/2" high.
$38.00 + $6.00
XXXXXXXXXXX
On our way to Nashville every year, Faye and I always do a
little antiquing.  It is so much fun after all the hours of preparation
for the show. It is our treat to ourselves.  Most of the things we
find end up decorating the booth.  The rationale here is it is
job related.  Don't you agree?  This year I found a number
of these wonderful wooden thread spools with their original cotton
thread.  It is unusual to find them with thread. They are great and
we sold a bunch at the show.  Just a few left  (after I took what I
wanted) so I thought I would offer them to you.  The four spools for
$16.00 + $2.50 shipping.
If you would like any of these things, just email or call me.  I
take Paypal, Visa, MC, and personal checks.
XXXXXXXXXX
That is all for today.  Stay tuned for sneak peaks of new designs.
Also, I will be adding new things to my Etsy Shoppe soon.
Many Happy Stitches,
Sandra

Fancy Friday

Good Evening Everyone!
It has been a crazy day around here, but I am happy to report that
Lehmer has had a pretty good day.   Hopefully, tomorrow will be
even better.  Because he has been doing so well I have been able
to put the finishing touches on my design for the annual Just Cross Stitch
Christmas ornament magazine.  This deadline always sneaks up on me.
It has to go in the mail tomorrow and there is
much left to do.  So, before I start dinner, I am going to have a cup
of coffee (to rejuvenate myself for a long night), take a break, and
 post my "Fancy Friday" offerings.
xxxxxxxxxxxx
I have a sweet little paper mache "Shabby Sheep" Button Box that
I hand painted, distressed, and trimmed with a charming
paper trim.  It measures 3 1/2" wide X 2 1/2" high X 1 5/8" tall.
The price is $12.00 + $2.25 shipping.

xxxxxxxxxxxx
Next, I have two journals that I hand-painted.  They measure
 8 1/4" tall X 5 3/4" wide.  There are approximately 50 sheets of
wonderful brown lined paper for your notes.
 "Bluebell Pot" Journal
SOLD - THANK YOU!!!
"Sunflower" Journal
Each of these journals are $14.00 + $2.50 shipping.
xxxxxxxxxxxx
Remember these are first come - first serve.
If you would like either of these "Fancy" offerings, please
email me with the name of the journal.
I accept Paypal, Visa, Mastercard, and personal check.
xxxxxxxxxxxx
I hope you have a great evening with
"Many Happy Stitches",
Sandra
